Style me !!!! Empower me !!!!

It all started when she came to office,  with a fragile body and a strong mind there she was  asking me to do a image makeover for her .  She said she dosen’t know if she can afford my services  but she surely needs it . Now i was curious in knowing whY she wants a  image makeover, to most of the people it is something that would make them glamorous and i had no doubt in my mind that she was going to ask to suggest her something that would make her fair . NO, she said she is absolutely very proud of her skin tone – hmmmm now it is getting more interesting , i am thinking then why is she here. So this is what she told me that encouraged me to start SMEM initiative .

She grew up in a joint family, dad passed away when she was just a kid and mom works as a domestic help in half dozen houses.  But her  mom made sure that her daughter  gets proper education, so here she is with a degree in nursing but no job yet .

She said she was turned down even before she could face the actual interview, she was asked to go back from the venue because she was not dressed right .  And she came to me asking for help and i knew with no job in hand and no income she can pay me my fees . I helped her to get dressed for the interview and i did not charge her anything. Then i thought there would be so many more who would need my help but for how many more i can do it for free and yes for everything we turn to FB and i did exactly that . I asked for help, help me to help others :).

The response was amazing and this was the first meeting we had for Style me !!! Empower me !!!

Helping people radiate outwardly while in pursuit of their dreams means providing emotional support, as well as practical. Knowing what to do is half the battle; the other half is applying what you know to your daily routine.

Empowerment is our goal; therefore teaching  how to apply our techniques for themselves is critical. Learning how to take care of yourself is not always learned in one lesson, especially when self-esteem is absent. We therefore offer a place and time to reinforce and review the learning from initial session.

What do we do- we provide a place to return for additional support – whether it be fashion advice, or further counsel on personal care. We feel that by offering a program with continuity to our services, we have a much better chance of restoring a positive self-image.

Image makeover is a very planned process, so go for it if you are committed to yourself

Lady in boots – How and what to wear with boots

My  favorite time of year? When autumn hits that perfect peak of sunny skies and crisp air, leaves crunch beneath your feet, and all you need is a colorful BAJA dress ,  jackets and yes BOOTS

Tall boots are perfect for fall and winter days. They allow you to get wear out of your lighter dresses and skirts

Fitted boots – Pick a pair that’s fitted around your leg but not so tight that your skin bulges out from the top. There shouldn’t be more than a half inch of space between your leg and your boot. The boots can be pull down a little to give a scrunched up look .

Or, wear a flat style with a mini or skin tight denims . If with mini, think about wearing tights, either way: You’ll look more conservative and pulled together. A straight cut makes them easy to slip in and out of, and they’re perfect if you want to put your jeans inside. They’re a little more casual but still refined. They are not skin fit to accommodate jeans or tights .

The ankle length boots or a ‘shootie”  slip easily under jeans or dress pants and don’t feel restrictive around your legs.

Light weight elf boots pair well with frocks and dresses, giving the  outfits a down-to-earth feel.

Hiking boots generally offer the wearer more support and protection. If you have wobbly ankles, the higher profile of hiking boots supports your foot more.

Navrathri and Durga pujo inspired look !!!

Like Shiva, Maa Durga is also referred to as “Triyambake” meaning the three eyed Goddess. The left eye represents desire (the moon), the right eye represents action (the sun), and the central eye knowledge (fire).

Hence the first thing that comes  to you when you close your eyes to pray are those defined eyes and a big bindi.

Bindi has such a significance in the way we as Indian women do our shringaar . The red ‘kumkum’ between the eyebrows is said to retain energy in the human body and control the various levels of concentration. It is also the central point of the base of the creation itself — symbolizing auspiciousness and good fortune.

Today being Navami ,  going to temple i wanted those eyes to be defined and the bindi is hand drawn ( i am not a sticker fan, i use sticker bindi only if  the weather is too humid ) .

Hairstyles to suit a round face !!!

If you have a round face, the secret to a great hairstyle is to deflect the roundness of your face. Since mine being a round face you can see my pictures in different hair length.

Round Face
Your face is as wide as it is long.  Face is widest at the cheeks.

Even though you may love the latest celebrity hair style, it might not be the right hair style for your face. The shape of your face and the proportions of your features will help tell you what hairstyle is best suited to you

  • Long hair is gorgeous on round faces because it lengthens the face. If you have a round face, your best cuts will fall a few inches below the chin and longer.
  • Ask your stylist to cut in long layers with the shortest layer hitting at your earlobe or even lower. Short layers make a hairstyle appear dated and also add body to hair, which will make a round face appear rounder. You don’t want that so cut the ends of each layer to make them all blend together .
  • Long, sideswept bangs create angles on a round face.  Go for long bangs that hit around the cheekbone. They angle down from there, which makes them fall nicely with the rest of her hair.
  • Gentle waves deflect the roundness of the face, so if you have natural wave in your hair (as most women do), allow your hair to do its natural “thing.” Scrunch hair as it dries so it retains some of its wave or help along the wave by wrapping hair around the barrel of a large curling iron .
For more on hairstyles I am here to help 🙂
  • Color – The streaks in warmer color added little texture the the hair 🙂
