Our own In-house makeover story

I remember the day when Parvathi came to us as we were looking for someone who could take care of our store . I was not very sure if she could do justice to the brand image that we are trying to project for our clothing brand BAJA . Then Amrutha ( my business  partner )  and me decided to give her a chance and we also were very confident that we would be able to groom her .

So here is Parvathi’s  makeover story  from a very meek girl to a very confident BAJA employee. A girl who would shy away from camera. Everything about her is a true transformation – from the way she speaks to the customer, she coordinates with people in our unit , managing the couriers, following up with customers and getting the job done at the bank. Love the attitude shift – Now her confidence level has increased so much that she can go to anyone and ask ,clear doubts and get the job done – Proud of her and ourselves 🙂

Does Image Matter?

My article in Rotary magazine that was released on 31st OF August by Mr.MAALAN Chief Editor of NEW GENERATION MEDIA

Blog in Rotarty club - 1

Here is the complete article –

marca-personal-mk-personal-branding-personal

Your personal image is important; it is what people think about you!  Companies and some public figures use PR firms to build or reinforce their personal image, where their aim is to persuade the public to create a favorable opinion of their client.  Your personal image affects your success in your career, personal life and public life.  Personal image does matter!
People judge others based on three elements.

  • How they dress
  • How they speak
  • How they act.

When I do workshops /sessions with students I discuss how they are misunderstood.  I share with them how I would make a judgment about a student in the first five seconds of seeing him/her.  They unanimously object to such a quick leap to judgment.  I usually turn it around and ask them if they would they make a judgment if they saw a hot looking boy or girl across campus. The answer is always “yes”.

Do you only think about your personal image when you interview or go to work?  Do you ever run into bosses, professors or colleagues in your off time?  How are you treated when you are in a store or other venues outside of work? Would it be a lot easier if you dressed up all the time?  Sure, but that may not make you feel comfortable.  I think that is important too.  Your personal image should fit your personality.

You don’t need to dress up all the time to make a positive impression.  It is more necessary to look good!  Do you “look well put together”?  Are your clothes clean and pressed?  Is it appropriate for the occasion?  Personal opinion may enter into this, but that is why it is your personal image.  Own it. It is your choice!  Personal image is more than what you wear!  It is how you speak and act too.  In social situations, you may notice someone because of the way they look or act.
So, let’s start a series of talks to help you look and feel good so you can reach “your maximum potential”.

When cotton feels like silk

IMG_4960

Monday wardrobe –

The day was calling for this sari, i think. That, and my love for the color and the style of sari in general. This sari is like one of those delicious desserts that you can almost taste , just looking at them. I could imagine the feel and the colors that would go so perfectly with certain pieces of jewelry from my collection.

Wearing it, I can truthfully say it is everything I’d thought it was, who says appearances are ‘always’ deceptive? The sari’s drape is perfect and feels deliriously like silk, though it is  organic cotton. The borders are woven, and beige colored. Simple as it is, it delights me to wear something as beautiful as this particular sari, just like many of my other clothes. It almost feels as though this reflected on my day! A session that went wonderfully, a client from jammu-kashmir, even! A few delightful moments when I realize that people have traveled far and long to come for my makeover  sessions, not to mention the variety of other things that they must have had to take care of!

I strongly believe that clothes can impact your day is so many different ways, feeling confident and comfortable just seems to push everything in the right direction, somehow. Not just clothes, even the small things matter, like the tiny moonstone that glinted on my finger, the silver  bangle on my hand and of course the antique hair pin in silver , that held my carefully mussed curls in place during my hectic day.

Ridiculous as it sounds, I am absolutely sure that it was my sari that held my day together, making it bright and beautiful, till the clouds set in, dulling the harsh sun, and cooling the air. strangely, they looked the same shade of grey as my antique pieces…
